I wouldn't have thought so. As I understood it JRuby is Ruby implemented in Java so it assume it requires some form of Java AppServer to run. Of course there are now a number of other Ruby implementations to chose from instead - native Ruby, Rubinius etc - so you shouldn't be stuck unless you need JRuby for some other reason.

I just googled for "JRuby deployment" and the most results are showing how to deploy a JRuby App on an J2EE App-Server like Galssfish, JBoss, Tomcat or Jetty.

But is there a way to deploy JRuby on Passenger or Unicorn?

I am coming from the J2EE World and I don't want to return to the dark side. I am glad if I have not to deal with some shitty Java App Servers. I did that long enough to know that it is evil :-) Nobody can tell me that Glassfish or JBoss is light weight!

Heroku seems to be having some problems. Ive been using it for quite a while now and it just hangs up when uploading tarballs sometimes. Ran into trouble with installing the heroku gem and getting it to work with Git too.
Its an awesome tool overall. But it just seems like its been temporarily abandoned. Just wish they get up and get cracking and take it off beta soon. It would really make deploying rails apps a cinch.

Fuzed can use either Mochiweb or YAWS. The default was YAWS until just about a week ago. Now YAWS is the "completeness" option and Mochiweb is the "mean and lean" performance option.

It seemed a good idea at a time when deploying Rails applications was quite a complex task - it still is but there are more options now. I just wish I had time to keep up to date with them all!

As a new blogger, it’s nice to read this and see how people network. I generally find new bloggers by going through comments as well. That and recipe searches. Good stuff! What made you come up with this site.
